Malana Cream - ‘drug tourism’ at Malana Valley

 


Malana grows some of the finest weed in India, and probably in the world. India is no stranger to Cannabis use, the Various region in India have a wide variety of mind-altering substances to offer.

It is the charas or hash or hashish or bhang which comes from the Malana Valley in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. 

Charas is the resin obtained from a species or strain of the cannabis plant, which grows naturally in the valley and is also cultivated illegally.  

It was banned in India in 1986 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

But the plant was considered an important crop in Kullu, used for a variety of other purposes such as making footwear.

Malana valley has a single village, Malana, and the hash produced there is more ‘creamy’, as compared to that produced in other parts of state.

With greater road connectivity, Malana and its neighbouring Parvati Valley became notorious for ‘drug tourism’.

Merging of two supermassive Black Holes

  The NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory has shared images of two super massive black holes merging. These black holes are located in Galaxy NGC 6240. They are 3,000 light-years apart and will drift together to form a larger black hole millions of years from now.   The merging process, which began some 30 million years ago, may be the most powerful sources of gravitational waves in the Universe.     Chandra X-ray Observatory It is a telescope designed to detect X-ray emissions from very hot regions of the universe such as exploded stars, clusters of galaxies, and matter around black holes. Orbiting at 139,000 km in space, the telescope was launched aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia during STS-93 by NASA in 1999.
